What's happening in Fremont

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

The Fremont Police Department is pleased to announce that the 11th  Annual Fremont Santa Claus Parade will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011.  The Rain Date for the Parade will be Sunday, December 18th .

The Parade procession is scheduled to leave the Fremont Safety Complex at 11:00 A.M.  The procession will run until Santa’s Route has been completed.  As in the past, Santa will be escorted around town by Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel.  The sound of sirens, and the sight of flashing lights will announce his arrival in your neighborhood.  Children of all ages are invited to come to the roadside and wave to Santa as he makes his rounds.  As always, Santa would not make a visit to town without passing out goodies.

                        BE SAFE                BE SAFE

The Fremont Police Department has seen an increase in the number of thefts from motor vehicles. The thefts are being committed at night while the vehicle is parked in the owners drive way. These are crimes of opportunity. In all of the cases the vehicles have been left unlocked. Items stolen include cash, wallets with personal identification and credit cards, GPS systems, and other valuables

I have heard it a number of times Fremont is a small quiet community nothing happens here. Unfortunately this is not a town problem because society is so mobile it is a regional problem. Recently we have tracked credit cards stolen in a recent theft from a motor vehicle in Fremont to stores in Maine where hundreds of dollars of merchandize was purchased. We anticipate arrests in the near future.

Be Safe take an extra step to secure your vehicle, Make sure your valuables are not in plain sight. Be aware of your surroundings if you see or hear any thing that seems suspicious call the police department and let us check it. Talk with your neighbors let them know when you plan to take a vacation. Get to know each other’s schedules this is your first line and best defense. If you are planning to be away from your residence come in to the police department or go on line and fill out a vacant house check request form. We will check your residence while you are away. If you have an alarm system make sure it is registered as required by town ordinance.
